You just got engaged (CONGRATS) and you may be thinking to yourself – guest list, wedding planner, dress, wedding venue, florist, etc, etc etc! Believe it or not sometimes the Officiant / Minister / Celebrant is the last wedding vendor on the list to be considered; even though you absolutely need someone to legalize your marriage (depending on the state)! Is this okay? Of course! I’m not offended at all, BUT if you want to secure someone who you feel fits your personalities and will properly execute the vision of your perfect ceremony, the sooner is definitely the better.
2020 has obviously been a strange year! With the cancellations and limitations of gatherings, many weddings have been pushed to 2021 and even 2022! I can’t stress this enough – BOOK ASAP if you have a date in mind! These timeframes are not guaranteed as they are based on current availability, but should still give a general idea.
For the packages I offer, here are some tips and timeframes on when you should book with me!
NOTE: Please reference the Officiating Services page for more details on my packages! Each package below requires a marriage license and a witness (depending on the state).
Legal ONLY – The Day You Get Your Marriage License (0 days)
I’m typically available to sign paperwork 7 days a week as this procedure only takes less than 15 minutes and I will record your paperwork for you!
In Nevada, you can get married the minutes after you receive your marriage license! Crazy, huh? There’s no waiting period, blood tests, or other legal issues you will encounter in this state if you are 18 years or older and have proper documentation. If you have been previously married, your divorce must be finalized before you can obtain a marriage license.
If you already have your marriage license in hand, I can sign your paperwork as soon as you both say “I Do”! In most cases, you will need to have one witness present to sign the paperwork as well. My husband, RJ Haffke, will be happy to stand in as your witness!
Just The Basics – 0 to 6 weeks
This package is great for spontaneous couples looking to get hitched on a whim; true elopement style! Plus you don’t have to put forth any effort on this one. This pre-written ceremony only lasts about 10-15 minutes, but it still brings all the feels!
With flexible dates, you’ll have better chances of booking this package with less than 6 weeks of planning time, which makes it great for elopements! If you are set on a specific date, then being flexible on time would be beneficial.
(This couple opted for this short ceremony, so they won’t be standing in the snow for too long!)
The Minimony – 3 to 6 months
This package is perfect for elopements and for couples who may not want to create a long, personalized ceremony, but want to include traditional elements of a wedding. With a Minimony it implies your special day is more than an elopement, but less than a full Matrimony, which means you may have guests in attendance with you. This ceremony gives you the option to honor those people in a customized section!
With additional people involved, I recommend booking this package ASAP, but at least within 3 months of when you plan to get married to give everyone ample time to plan to be there on your date! This timeframe also allows for us to discuss your ceremony details further, choose sections of the ceremony template you want to include and time to create your custom section.
The Matrimony – 6 months to 1 year +
This package is the most involved out of all of the packages I offer! Because this package offers a fully custom ceremony, it takes time to carefully curate. Please keep in mind with any customization, it will only reflect as much as you give. Officiants are magicians, but you will have to let us take a glimpse into your lives just a bit! =)
I HIGHLY recommend booking this package within a year of your Matrimony date as you will most likely have much else on your plate on top of creating this ceremony with me. This timeframe will give you better odds on availability, especially if you are targeting peak wedding season (June and September). If your Matrimony is anywhere from November to March, around 6 months would be acceptable.
Cheers to a better 2021! I’m looking forward to more Just The Basics, Minimonies and Matrimonies in the future! Please contact me for more information. Thank you for reading!
